Kyonggi University

Teleconference Center

Suwon, South Korea

Description

A new Teleconferencing Center serves as a hub for the Kyonggi University’s campus-wide information technology infrastructure. The 4,600 square-meter, 1300-seat global teleconferencing facility used for trans-national, multidisciplinary teaching and conferencing. In order to conserve energy and take advantage of the sloping terrain, the building is partially buried underground. Although Korea does not have a LEED certification system, the building incorporates significant sustainable design principles and would likely classify for a “Silver LEED” rating, if it was submitted for certification in the US. The center includes two auditoria; one with 250 flexible seats and the other with 750 fixed seats, equipped with translation booths, advanced communications and state-of-the-art audio/visual features.
