Description
The master plan for the Bermuda National Sports Centre – a national center of sports excellence for Bermuda’s elite athletes and a sporting, recreational, and entertainment venue for the entire country – fashions an athletic environment that is truly a “Centre for All.” A 260,000 sf core building provides a triple gymnasium with seating for 3,500; an aquatics center with an outdoor, eight-lane, 50-meter pool; sports medicine and cardiac rehabilitation; and a reception area ideally suited for community and cultural events. A 2,000-seat grandstand with concessions, team lockers, and media spaces provides views of a main stadium and of multisport athletic fields, including a grass field equipped with water-recycling irrigation systems and a turf field with a porous concrete base – the first such field in the world.
