Description
Sheridan Preparatory Academy is the first new school to be built as part of an eight-year master plan program to reorganize the City School District of Albany. The 57,000 sf elementary school, located on a 1.4-acre site in a densely populated section of the city, is a true “neighborhood school,” conforming to mandated education standards and providing a quality environment to encourage lifelong learning in the community it serves.
The design fully utilizes the site’s potential and gives the neighborhood much-needed “green” play space for children. A community gymnasium, run by the area YMCA, is available for use after normal school hours. In addition to special education classrooms, resource spaces are provided for social workers, and a school psychologist for students and their parents.
