Description
Dugan Residence Hall, a 270-bed student residence, is part of an ongoing effort to transform Canisius College from a commuter-based to a residential college by offering housing options and amenities that attract students to campus. In addition to added residential capacity, the 100,000 sf facility also offers common study areas, a kitchenette serving each floor, a business center, and multipurpose rooms.
The site selected for the new main housing complex was the last open parcel of land on the urban campus’s main quad. Major challenges included providing a comfortable, attractive student residence that would conform to various site constraints and be aesthetically compatible with the neighboring historic community.
