Venturing into the competitive U.S. market, Italian coffee company Lavazza selected a Chicago location as the prototype for a new chain of retail cafés. As part of the branding initiative, a trademark based on the image of an espresso cup and spoon was developed for the company, along with striking photography already associated with the company throughout Europe. The centerpiece, a chandelier of cups and saucers that hang within a floating ceiling panel of spoons, pairs with a stimulating palette of materials and finishes to create a warm, inviting atmosphere expressive of Lavazza Premium Espresso’s brand.
