“The design uses strong indoor/outdoor connections and simple articulation of form to achieve a comforting and cohesive residential rehabilitation environment. Organized around a landscaped courtyard, the three simple single-story elements are punctuated by roof monitors and folded plate canopies, generating a rich human scale.”AIA Academy of Architecture for Justice - Citation for Design Excellence

Description
The 32,000 sf, 48-bed Residential Treatment Center represents a new concept in exploring alternative care models and ensuring public safety in the least restrictive manner. The goal of creating a facility that looks and feels as open and residential in character as possible is achieved by introducing wood framing, residential clustering, and extensive natural lighting. Each of the two residential buildings contains three units of eight rooms, with 24 residents per building, a common area that resembles comfortable living rooms, and an outdoor recreation facility. The third building houses classrooms and administrative areas.
