The El Sereno Recreation Center and Indoor Pool is a prominent fixture within the community, reflecting its duality as a playful park and recreation facility and as a civic landmark. The main swimming pool area is located below a curving roof that recalls the sloping form of nearby hillsides, enhancing its natural setting and overlapping a linear curve that includes the entrance lobby, dressing rooms, and staff area. Materials such as blue glazed concrete block, copper, and translucent panels echo the natural elements of the park, such as water, light, trees, and grass. Clerestory windows and translucent skylights introduce daylight and views to nature, enlivening and animating the pool area while encouraging year-round use of the facility.
