Occupying a light industrial site next to St. Louis International Airport, the national headquarters for Daughters of Charity Health System evokes the upward energy of an airplane on lift-off. A layering of two-tone brick and metal-and-glass textures combined with strategic upward tilts in the entry canopy, rooftop mechanical-equipment screen, and corner walls symbolize the 51,400 sf building’s buoyant spirit. Offices lining the perimeter of the broad public entry facade enjoy dramatic views of nearby runways and ample daylighting, supplied in part through fluted-glass wall sections along a central three-story atrium.
