Description
Built to withstand winds exceeding 100 km/h and snow accumulations of more than 6 m, the Gondola Terminal Buildings at Whistler Mountain’s Roundhouse Lodge and Blackcomb Mountain’s Rendezvous Lodge serve as many as 4,100 passengers hourly of the Peak 2 Peak Gondola, a $51 million transport system breaking world records for length and height and offering guests of Whistler Blackcomb, North America’s top ski resort, unprecedented access to the resort’s two mountains.
The photogenic, iconic buildings meet rigorous technical and structural requirements, employing a modular steel structure on a cast-in-place concrete foundation and a combination of profiled metal, cedar, and translucent polycarbonate cladding. To accommodate the complex construction of the gondola system, the terminal buildings were completed within an extremely tight five-month window.
