Description
Ann Arbor’s police department and justice facilities were previously housed in an aging facility no longer able to meet the needs of either group. The city commissioned Cannon Design, with architect of record Quinn Evans, to design an expansion of the police and courts facility. Given the building’s location in the heart of Ann Arbor’s downtown and blocks from the University of Michigan, it was crucial the design engage the neighborhood. A large glass atrium opens the building on one corner, while an adjacent plaza expands public space and provides a connection to City Hall.
