Education designer Stuart Brodsky and Chiaravalle Montessori’s head of schools, Robyn McCloud-Springer, will discuss how a community-based planning process and Montessori principles served as a design catalyst for Chiaravalle Montessori’s north wing addition. Their session is titled, “Community-based design planning for a LEED Platinum school.” Chiaravalle’s addition is an innovative, student-centered learning environment that celebrates the community and expresses ecological principles inherent in Montessori curriculum. The LEED Platinum design leverages sustainable systems strategies to reduce operational costs, provide a living-laboratory for education and hands-on learning experiences.

The Association for Learning Environments’ (A4LE) LearningSCAPES Conference will be held in Philadelphia, PA, from September 28 – October 1, 2016.
