Bayhealth, Central and Southern Delaware’s largest healthcare system, has selected CannonDesign to help create the organization’s new health campus in Milford. CannonDesign and Bayhealth will use an integrated project planning process to efficiently and collaboratively design and construct the new health campus. The CannonDesign team will provide Bayhealth with a strategic array of cohesive services including planning and design, engineering, and cost estimating. The integrated project team will help Bayhealth build a unique environment to serve its patients and communities.

The new health campus will anchor Bayhealth’s services in southern Delaware. The greenfield site will host an inpatient acute care hospital as well as an adjoining ambulatory care center to create a community-focused health village. Design goals are focused around enhancing the patient experience in an environment that delivers care safely, effectively, and efficiently through lean-led design.

Facilities will feature state-of-the-art technology and a robust suite of finely coordinated outpatient and diagnostic services focused on continually improving the patient experience and attracting leading talent to this area.

“What impressed us most about CannonDesign is how they work to first understand the clinical processes before beginning design,” said Bayhealth President and Chief Executive Officer Terry Murphy. “This true understanding of the clinical work flow improves efficiency and eliminates waste in the health care continuum. The benefit is a better experience for our patients, their families, medical staff, and employees.”

The new health campus is a multi-phased project with a master plan to guide future expansion(s) on site. The first phase will develop through a collaborative approach that unites architect, contractor, and owner in a delivery method to maximize efficiency and conserve cost.

“We’re very proud to continue our partnership with Bayhealth as it evolves its offerings to best meet the changing needs of those it serves,” said Catherine Corbin, Vice President at CannonDesign. “This project represents a significant opportunity for CannonDesign to showcase our comprehensive practice. The talent in our health practice is deep and diverse and we have selected the right leaders across our global network to help Bayhealth create an asset for Delaware communities.”

The new health campus is slated to open in 2018 and Bayhealth has created a website where it will continue to provide updates and information relative to the project:
