King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center Wins Hospital Build Award for Best Hospital Design

King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center was presented with the top award for Best Hospital Design (Unbuilt) at recent award ceremonies held at the 2012 Hospital Build & Infrastructure Conference in Dubai.   Showcasing hospitals that improve healthcare services and raising the bar in providing world-class patient care, this year’s jury reviewed over 200 nominations for projects throughout the Middle East.

The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh is one of the Middle East’s leading medical institutions, known for providing the highest level of specialized healthcare in an integrated education and research setting. Designing a project of this magnitude required a rigorous understanding of the local culture and climate.  The design, in collaboration with associate architect, Dar Al Riyadh, is rooted in evidence-based research. Natural light, external views and green spaces are incorporated while maintaining privacy.  Collaborative spaces—formal and informal—foster interaction, exchange of knowledge and create a sense of place.”
