A Dynamic Arena for an Urban University

Boston University, Fitness and Recreation Center, and Agganis Arena, Boston, MA

For two decades we have partnered with Boston University through a transformative expansion of its academic, student life and sports facilities including the design of the John Hancock Student Village, a thriving 10-acre center featuring fitness, recreation, athletics and aquatics. At its center is the Agganis Arena, a 6,200-seat venue for hockey and basketball that can be expanded to 7,200 seats for other events such as concerts, conventions, trade shows and family entertainment.

Steeply raked seating places all seats within sixty feet on the playing surface. Amenities in the arena include private boxes and luxury lounges.

The arena and adjacent recreation center puts athletes and sports at the center of student life.

The adjacent Fitness and Recreation Center includes extensive weight training areas, a cardiovascular conditioning center, track facilities and a sports medicine center to serve the training needs of the university’s athletes. There are two levels of underground parking beneath the arena and recreation center, which is easily accessible by public transportation.

There have been some great things said about playing at Agganis…it’s exactly what the university had in mind when we built the arena.
