Thomas C. Bergmann, AIA, LEED

The operations and practice leader for the Midwest region, Tom Bergmann is responsible for implementing qualitative practice initiatives to ensure delivery of projects that exceed our clients’ expectations as well as managing the activities of the St. Louis and Chicago offices.

A project manager with over 20 years experience, Bergmann is currently serving as project manager for Saint Louis University Doisy Research Building, a 280,000 sf biomedical research building seeking LEED® Silver certification; Solae Corporate Headquarters, a 200,000 sf research and development complex; and University Hospitals of Cleveland, New Ireland Cancer Hospital, a 320,000 sf National Cancer Institute facility.

Robin V. Cibrano, AIA

Robin V. Cibrano, AIA

With more than two decades of experience in the practice of architecture, Robin Cibrano has served in a variety of roles, from New York regional operations leader to project principal, project manager, and project architect. Cibrano’s portfolio of work includes healthcare, science and technology, education, hotel and convention centers, and corporate and commercial projects. Skillfully coordinating collaboration among design, technical, and management elements, Cibrano is recognized for his outstanding leadership and communication skills. He possesses the long-range vision required to anticipate potential challenges and to subsequently collaborate on solutions that are grounded in the best interest of the client, the project, and the design. He is expert at aligning and implementing the resources of the Cannon Design team to meet and exceed client needs and expectations.

As senior principal in Cannon Design’s New York City office, Cibrano is responsible for principal and office leadership as well as client development and leadership, with a focus on healthcare. Currently, he is project principal for a $400 million bed tower expansion at University of Colorado Hospital, a spinal cord injury building for the Veterans Administration, and a $200 million master plan implementation for South Nassau Communities Hospital.

Richard Hrycaj, AIA

Richard Hrycaj, AIA

Richard Hrycaj is the operations and practice leader for the firm’s New England region, providing management of staffing, operations, and reporting and implementing qualitative practice initiatives that ensure optimum project delivery.

A project manager with over 20 years experience, Hrycaj has been responsible for a variety of complex healthcare, laboratory and research projects. He is particularly adept at building consensus to arrive at a common understanding of project goals and objectives. He has served as project manager for multiple assignments at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, including the new Shapiro Cardiovascular Center, the renovation program for surgical services and award-winning Ruth and Carl J. Shapiro Pavillion.

Marion LaRue, LEED

Marion LaRue, LEED

Marion LaRue is one of Cannon Design’s most seasoned professionals. Over the last two decades, LaRue has provided leadership on over 30 higher-education and sports/recreation projects, including the RIMAC Center at the University of California, San Diego, a facility recognized for excellence by the International Olympic Committee/International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities. She is currently principal-in-charge for the Richmond Speed Skating Oval, signature venue for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. As operations leader for Cannon Design’s Western Canada region, LaRue collaborates with practice leaders to manage personnel and operational issues, works with project managers to develop, implement, and monitor project plans, and oversees financial project reporting.

Jose M. Silva, AIA, LEED

Jose M. Silva, AIA, LEED

As operations and practice leader for the Mid Atlantic region, Jose is responsible for staffing and scheduling and financial reporting for the Baltimore and Washington, DC offices.

With over 25 years experience, Silva has served as project manager and project principal for institutional, government and commercial clients. He has been involved in the development of master plans and feasibility studies, as well as new construction and building renovation projects. His portfolio includes Nova Southeastern University, The Commons, a 528-bed residence hall; U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Cleveland CARES Tower, a $83 million inpatient facility, and the leadership of a national IDIQ contract with the Veterans Affairs Department which includes multi-disciplinary assignments for both the Veterans Benefits and Health Administration.

Brian Sitzman, AIA

Brian Sitzman, AIA

One of Cannon Design’s regional operations and practice leaders, Sitzman is responsible for directing the firm’s Western New York operations—implementing qualitative practice initiatives to ensure delivery of projects that exceed our clients’ expectations—as well as managing the daily activities of the Buffalo office—from staffing and workload scheduling to financial project reporting. An experienced project manager with over 22 years of experience in the planning and design of healthcare facilities, Sitzman is currently serving as project manager for both the Tata Medical Centre Cancer Hospital—Eastern India’s first world-class cancer hospital and research center—and a multi-million dollar expansion and renovation program for Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, NY.

Michael J. Smith, AIA, LEED

Michael J. Smith, AIA, LEED

One of Cannon Design’s regional operations and practice leaders and leader of the civic/justice practice, Smith possesses three decades of experience in the design and project management of civic, judicial, law enforcement, and healthcare facilities. Four of Smith’s recent projects have been recognized by the AIA’s Justice Facilities Review, with three earning design honors from AIA’s Academy of Architecture for Justice. The recently completed Maricopa County Juvenile Court & Detention Facilities was also featured in Corrections Today.

Smith has served on municipal and university design review boards throughout his career and has taught construction technology at Woodbury University. He is a mayor’s appointee for the Angelino Heights Historic Preservation Board and a chairman of the Los Angeles Conservatory’s Architects’ Own Homes Tour program.
