Cannon Design projects honored by Real Estate & Construction Review

November 10, 2009

Real Estate & Construction Review honored Cannon Design with two Green Building of American awards. Recognized by the editorial advisory board, the projects are featured in the 2009 Northeast Green Success Stories.

Simmons College, School of Management and Academic Building, houses the School of Management and other academic programs in a 66,500 sf, $63 million, LEED-Gold building. By virtue of its location, the building encloses a newly formed Simmons Quadrangle – formerly a parking lot – creating a new center for campus life and concealing a 700-car subterranean parking garage below.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, East Hall, is a LEED-Gold , five-story, 232-bed residence hall with a 220-car parking structure and landscaped 40-foot-wide arts walk—all key elements of the university’s master plan to link the campus with Worcester’s arts district. A green roof and a stormwater monitor and testing station in the ground-floor lobby educates students and the public about green design and enriches the institute’s environmental science curriculum.
