The Lindner Center of Hope Receives Citation of Merit in Design Showcase

August 25, 2009

In Behavioral Healthcare magazine’s Design Showcase, the Lindner Center of Hope was one of two projects recognized with a Citation of Merit. This special issue highlights state-of-the-art design projects from firms that have achieved outstanding innovative design solutions in healthcare and human service facilities.

Situated on a 36-acre rolling meadow, the Center is tucked away in a wooded setting a half mile from the main thoroughfare. The landscape became the symbolic platform for understanding the challenges of, and opportunities for, mental healthcare treatment, and an essential factor driving building form and organizational plan. The 64-bed mental health hospital and clinic offers an integrated program of inpatient care providing comprehensive outpatient services that offer the latest advances in clinical neuroscience, including state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and dedicated space for integrated research and educational programs.

Jurors praised the project, noting, “Very sophisticated approach to the design solution and very welcoming. This is a project that truly means what they stated. Evidence-based design research was used in implementing the design and it is more than obvious.”
