“Building on the Universal Grid” Receives First-Place Honors from the SMPS

August 25, 2009

The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) has recognized “Building on the Universal Grid” with first place honors for feature writing at its 2009 Marketing Communications Awards gala. Published in both Healthcare Design and Inside ASHE magazines, author, Kent Turner, AIA, MRAIC, President, Cannon Design North America, discusses the Universal Grid—a recipe for success that asks readers to imagine the structure of healthcare delivery 50 years into the future. By applying the grid planning module to the design of a healthcare facility, it can be readily adapted from one type of facility to a radically different type—not only assuring future adaptability, but also reducing initial capital investment, offering significant speed-to-market options, and enhancing design freedom.

Representing professional marketers associated with the design and construction industry, the SMPS has more than 5,000 members. This awards program, recognizing the best of marketing collateral created by the A/E/C industry, spans 18 categories; and this year’s competition drew nearly 240 entries.
