The Yazdani Studio of CannonDesign is a laboratory for exploration and experimentation in architecture. Established upon the reputation and leadership of award-winning designer Mehrdad Yazdani, the studio leverages the best attributes of a small design studio with the resources and reach of our global practice. The studio includes a diverse team of architects, designers, 3-D artists, technical specialists, and creative thinkers entirely committed to pushing the boundaries of design—from refining concepts of sustainability to the application of radically new technologies and urban initiatives.

Kaleida Health Gates Vascular Institute and SUNY Buffalo Clinical Translational Research Center
(Buffalo, NY)

This groundbreaking academic medical center stacks a translational research center atop a world-renowned clinical vascular institute and connects them via a dynamic “collaborative core.” The building brings together doctors, researchers, students and business leaders to collaborate and accelerate medical discoveries.

Simon Wiesenthal Center, Museum of Tolerance
(Los Angeles, CA)

A hands-on experiential museum focused on educating people on the dynamic of racism and prejudice through unique, interactive exhibits. Renovation efforts transformed the dated museum into a destination reflective of the center’s humanitarian reach. New exhibit spaces, theaters, learning spaces and pivoting media walls with portraits and stories of civil and human right pioneers advance the museum’s mission.

University of Utah, Lassonde Studios
(Salt Lake City, Utah)

A game-changing facility, Lassonde Studios brings together more than 400 unique student residences and 20,000 sf of “garage” space where any student on campus can build a prototype, attend an event or launch a company. Equipped with collaborative space, 3D printers and cutting-edge technology, the space is University of Utah’s vision for the future of entrepreneurial education.

Cedars Sinai, OR 360
Los Angeles, CA

Inspired by theater design, the OR 360 is an operating room testing ground like no other. Designed in partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense, Cedars Sinai uses OR 360 to explore how to improve outcomes in trauma patients during the “golden hour” the first hour of emergency medical treatment, when swift care is critical for survival.

CJ Corporation, CJ Blossom Park
(South Korea)

Conceived as “The Only One,” CJ Blossom Park is a new world-class R&D headquarters for CJ Corporation that repositions the company’s operations into a new interdisciplinary format that will increase efficiency, create a culture of integrated innovation and accelerate speed-to-market.

Kraemer Radiation Oncology Center
(Anaheim, CA)

Radiation treatment centers have been historically placed below ground to accommodate heavy equipment and shield radiation. Kaiser’s state-of-the-art medical center changes that paradigm by placing its oncology spaces above ground to offer patients access to views of nature that alleviate stress and soothe them during challenging treatments.

UC San Diego Jacobs Medical Center
(San Diego, CA)

Reflective of UC San Diego’s vision toward the future intersections between technology and medicine, Jacobs Medical Center is designed as three hospitals in one with focus on women’s and children’s, cancer and specialty surgery. The tower is the cornerstone of a new campus identity focused on the future of health, pairing cutting-edge, modern medicine with best-in-class patient experience.

Government Center Tower Design Competition
(Boston, MA)

The redeveloped 528’ high, one million sf Government Center and its surrounding neighborhoods are an influential element that enhance Boston’s skyline with sophisticated, elegant, bold and iconic architecture recognizable worldwide. The tower’s sleek, thin appearance combines with a subtly sculpted crown that slopes inward and connects the north and south glazed facades at the top – a simple, yet powerful design that elevates the city and builds on its rich design history.

Armenian American Museum Design Competition
(Glendale, CA)

The Yazdani Studio of CannonDesign was one of four firms short-listed for the design of the Armenian American Museum in Glendale, CA and took first place in the design competition. The museum serves as a repository of cultural memory, a symbol of national identity, a celebration for individual achievement and a commemoration of the sufferings of a people.

Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem,
People’s Journey Exhibition and Social Lab
(Jerusalem, Israel)

The design of the Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem center creates a space for public engagement that fosters learning and understanding around the dynamics of racism and prejudice throughout history. The garden complements the museum to allow for congregation, celebrate Nobel laureates and inspire unity and peace.

Hauptman Woodward,
Medical Research Institute
(Buffalo, NY)

Designed for Nobel Laureate and internationally renowned mathematician, Dr. Herbert Hauptman, the Hauptman-Woodward Research Institute is the gateway to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campu and a key focal point in its diverse urban neighborhood. Guided by its motto, “The Cures Begin Here,” the institute creates novel strategies and technologies to promote the understanding, prevention and treatment of human diseases.

Jack Nicklaus Golf Club of Korea
(Songdo, South Korea)

The introduction of a Jack Nicklaus designed 18-hole championship golf course and its surrounding golf community in South Korea crated an opportunity to set a new standard for golf and lifestyle communities across Asia. The home clubhouse for the 2015 U.S. Presidents Cup, the clubhouse creates visual connections with the surrounding course. Undulating rooms echo rolling greens and the clubhouse presents striking vies to the surrounding nature preserve and nearby sea.

Bollywood Museum
(Mumbai, India)

The design of the Bollywood Museum pulls inspiration from Bollywood cinema’s focus on layered emotion and reflects it via undulating iconic form and multiple waves of spatial experience. Situated in Film City in Mumbai amidst back-lots, the museum participates in the industry that supports it and treats guests to a first-class experience.

Caffé Bene Cultural Center
(Seoul, South Korea)

Seeking to create a manufacturing facility and culture center to reflect its brand identity, Caffé Bene transformed the traditional factory experience into one through which they could consistently engage and entertain customers. Inspired by Caffé Bene’s products, the design offers a rectangular envelope punctuated with a series of room-sized pods that blur the boundary between preparation and presentation.

UC San Diego, Price Center East
(San Diego, CA)

The “extroverted,” highly permeable UC San Diego (UCSD) Price Center addition helps the student center engage the campus with numerous points of entry, surrounding plazas and monumental staircases that engage the building’s surrounding and enrich the campus street experience. In line with the UCSD masterplan, the facility creates a “town-center” environment.

California State University, Northridge, Chaparral Hall Science Building
Northridge, CA

This ultramodern, 100,000 sf academic science facility combines state-of-the-art research labs, teaching labs, lecture rooms, offices and collaborative space to inspire scientific discovery. The building is composed of two distinct clusters for research and teaching linked together by communal and collaborative space. A three-level outdoor public staircase helps define the exterior and promote circulation and interaction.
