This award, part of HBJ’s Diversity in Business Awards, “recognizes for-profit and nonprofit organizations that have shown dedication to promoting and championing diversity and inclusion in the business community or are supplying diversity-related resources, such as job sites, diversity training programs and e-learning.”
As one of the firm’s core DEI initiatives and to advance diversity in the industry forward, we launched the Inclusive Partner Program in 2021. Created in partnership with XBE firms across the country, the Inclusive Partner Program galvanizes people and companies to create mutually beneficial partnerships that deliver more impact across the design industry. It aims to go far beyond typical XBE programs – which are often focused on meeting client or project-specific requirements – by creating deep-rooted relationships that maximize shared opportunities, foster greater equity, spark genuine collaboration and provide fulfilling experiences for all involved.
Currently, there are two pathways for businesses owned by BIPOC, women, persons with disabilities, veterans, LGBTQ+ individuals and other underrepresented groups to join the Inclusive Partner Program. First, the CannonDesign Collective is a virtual 12-week journey focused on knowledge sharing, professional development and relationship building. The second cohort of CannonDesign Collective firms is going through the experience right now. Additionally, our XBE Directory is our go-to source when looking for partners to team with on projects.
We also celebrate being one of just 16 architecture firms in the National Organization of Minority Architects’ (NOMA) President’s Circle. This small group brings together architecture firms to help further NOMA’s mission of increasing BIPOC representation in the industry.
Congratulations to all who help advance DEI initiatives within our firm and beyond.
