The Paul Holmes award is given each year to a leader who demonstrates incredible commitment and dedication to the CCFC’s mission and vision of enhancing facilities for the students of California’s community colleges. Praful accepted the award during the 2021 CCFC Annual Conference earlier this month in California. Other CannonDesign leaders including Brandon Dekker and Matthew Greiner attended along with Praful’s sons. Also in attendance were two key mentors of Praful’s, Dr. Carl Cohn – former CEO of San Diego Unified School District – and Dr. Frank Argady, past President of URS.
Speaking of Praful, Dr. Cohn said “It was wonderful to be included in this special recognition of you and your commitment to mentorship and inclusion. It was so nice to meet your family members and colleagues. They are all so integral to your success and life’s work. Keep it up. You are making a difference.” And, Dr. Argady added, “This is a wonderful honor Praful – you are and are inspirational.”
With more than three decades of design and construction experience, Praful’s passion in advancing project delivery innovation is incredible and unwavering. He has had deep ties to education work throughout his career, always focused on helping institutions create better spaces for students and staff in ways that exceed cost, schedule and quality goals. He has held numerous regional and national professional leadership roles throughout his career and currently sits on the Construction Management Association of America Board of Directors.
“It’s not an overstatement to say that Praful is a pioneer in the design and construction industry,” said Brandon Dekker. “This award is incredibly well-deserved. Praful’s positive contributions to California’s community colleges will echo for generations.
Prior to merging with CannonDesign, Praful served as the president, founder and CEO of gkkworks, a company he built and differentiated through a progressive approach to integrated project delivery and customized design solutions. His work with gkkworks helped him secure Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award, an honor reserved for those showing excellence and success in innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to business, clients and communities.
