Patricia Bou and Roland Lemke, along with Erik Thompson from the University of the District of Columbia will present the above topic at the Association of College Unions International’s region 7 conference in Pittsburgh.
About the session
The University of the District of Columbia’s student center is the foundation of a 10-year, campus-wide renewal aimed as a national sustainability model. Traditionally a commuter campus, the center offer over 5,000 students a reason to stay and linger. This session explores the complex site, outcomes and lessons learned. The session will also talk about how institutional planning and programmatic needs were met and utilized to enhance student involvement. Project complexities of new construction will be shared along with challenges of densely located structures, and creative ways for new space with highly sustainable and energy-efficient construction.
