CannonDesign is set to sponsor the Progressive Design-Build Track at the 2018 DBIA Design-Build Conference & Expo this year and a number of our leaders will present.
Deb Sheehan will speak as part of a Market Sector Roundtable on Nov. 7 at 8 a.m. The DBIA conference unites the nation’s leading owners and design-builders for workshops, panel discussions and keynotes focused on addressing real-world challenges related to real-world challenges owners face every day across every sector of the built environment.
Specifically, Deb will speak to how design-build now accounts for nearly half of all design and construction in the U.S., with many market sectors seeing new growth and opportunity. She will join other industry leaders to discuss how design-build continues to gain momentum and can help shape project delivery in aviation, education, transit, health and other critical markets. Additionally, Praful Kulkarni, leader of our Integrated Services division and current DBIA Board Member, will play multiple roles throughout the conference to champion our sponsorship and progressive design-build delivery.
Brian Skripac will moderate a technology forum on Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. called “Exploring the Value of BIM on Projects.” The event description explains:
Does increased BIM use adoption improve project performance? What role does BIM Execution Planning (BEP) have in the successful implementation of BIM on a project? This session shares the results of a study that examined the impact of BIM use adoption and BEP on project performance, across a range of project delivery methods. Leveraging data from over 200 building projects, the presentation will highlight specific BIM uses and combinations of uses that were commonly found on projects with improved cost, schedule and quality performance. We will also discuss the role of the project delivery system, including the timing of contractor involvement, procurement method and contract type, as well as BEP participation, to provide recommendations for increasing BIM use adoption on construction projects.
Praful Kulkarni will speak or present at three events, including a Market Sector Roundtable on Aviation on Nov. 7 at 8 p.m., a session on “Progressive Design-Build Best Practices” on Nov. 7 at 3:30 p.m., and at the 2018 Design-Build Awards Dinner on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m., honoring the nation’s best design-build projects, teams and more. Praful will also speak at a membership luncheon held during the conference.
