Al McQuilkin Joins CannonDesign to Lead CannonDesign Builders

We are thrilled to share Alexander McQuilkin has joined our CannonDesign Builders team to lead the group as it advances breakthrough construction processes and dynamic projects across the country.

Al brings decades of proven leadership and project delivery innovation to our team. He stands out for his ability to guide project teams, maximize efficiency and collaboration, and ultimately deliver complex construction projects that meet goals and exceed client expectations. He is deeply knowledgeable in cutting-edge construction processes and technology, which will help keep us and our clients at the forefront of project delivery.

“Al makes our team and our work stronger immediately,” said Praful Kulkarni, Director of Integrated Services for CannonDesign. “He is deeply committed to bold, integrated project delivery solutions that help organizations accelerate project timelines, minimize redundancies and budget, and achieve the highest quality design. He is a visionary with boundless energy, we’re excited to have him join our team guide our construction efforts.”

CannonDesign Builders is founded on the belief that architecture, engineering and construction are inseparable processes. The team seamlessly unites these disciplines to deliver customized solutions that accelerate speed to market and predictable outcomes in cost and time. They have proven success through design-build, progressive design-build, modular design and construction and more.

This in-house team gives us an intimate understanding of sequence, logistics, material technology, installation requirements and more. And, the team can work as “translators” between design and build partners – safeguarding design intent and bringing more clarity and accuracy to the construction process for each project. CannonDesign Builders has keyed significant projects for LA County, Los Angeles International Airport, Bayhealth, Advocate Aurora Health, Incipio Group and more.

“CannonDesign and their Build Division truly stand out in the industry for their commitment to integration and innovation,” said McQuilkin. “There is growing interest in Progressive-Design Build, Design-Build, Modular Design across the country, and being able to help lead a team that can execute on all these delivery methods is incredibly exciting.”

Prior to joining CannonDesign Builders, Al held key leadership roles at Perera Construction, the Lundquist Institute, Chapman University, and The Claremont Colleges. We celebrate him returning as he was a legacy gkkworks team leader for almost ten years. He is able to empower organizations of all types – public, private, institutional, educational, civic and more – through dynamic construction leadership.
