CannonDesign’s San Diego Office Moves into New Downtown Home

We’re thrilled to announce our San Diego team has moved to a new office in the heart of downtown San Diego’s East Village.

Twice the size of our previous home, the new workspace gives us more room to grow as we continue to partner with the region’s most innovative organizations in the health, education, commercial, science and civic sectors.

“San Diego is one of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S., and we needed a new space for our dynamic teams and bright future ahead.” said Brandon Dekker, principal, and leader of our San Diego office. “Our new office is designed to function as a creative hub that fuels innovation and teamwork while providing the space we need to supercharge our growth in the region.”

The new office, which is located at 797 J Street just steps from Petco Park and the Gaslamp Quarter, bolsters our visibility in the city and puts our firm in the heart of the vibrant downtown community. Designed to accommodate flexible schedules and a hybrid workforce, it includes a mixture of assigned and open workstations, as well as an array of teaming spaces and technologies for in-person and virtual collaboration.

“Our workspace empowers our team members with the flexibility they need to thrive—both professionally and personally,” added Dekker. “There’s more choice in how and where our teammates work, and the amenities and energy around the building elevate the work experience to incredible new levels.”

Our move to our new San Diego office is the latest milestone in a string of success in the region. In 2020, ENR-California named CannonDesign the top design firm in the state, and just this year, Fast Company named our firm the #2 most innovative company in North America—citing several of our Southern California projects as key drivers for the remarkable recognition.

Our team’s current work in and around San Diego includes the County of San Diego Behavioral Health Hub, Tri-City Medical Center Psychiatric Hospital and the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs Spinal Cord Injury Hospital. Our team has also invested in its Science + Technology team over the past year, including the hire of Alicia Panimos-Maurer, who has amplified our expertise and reach in this growing field in the San Diego area.
