Juann Khoory to Lead Boston Society of Architecture Knowledge Community on Shelter and Homelessness

We are proud to share that Juann Khoory, Design Principal in our Boston office, has been selected to lead a new Boston Society of Architecture (BSA) Knowledge Community focused on better addressing shelters and homelessness.

Specifically, Juann will lead a team focused on raising awareness around providing shelters to displaced individuals and families through extensive data, research, community outreach, design exploration and solutions. They’ll partner closely with the BSA’s Housing Knowledge Community, Mass Shelter Alliance and other local academic institutions.

“I’m thrilled the BSA has accepted my proposal to form a team focused on bringing new ideas and solutions to those without shelter across the Boston region,” said Juann. “We have the minds and the means to ignite impactful change.”

In defining the knowledge community, Juann has established that all meetings will take place at the BSA or shelter locations. She’ll also lead the group to explore how mental and behavioral health, public policy and social equity overlay in this discussion.

CannonDesign has a proven record of designing facilities that address mental and physical wellbeing, including the Los Angeles County + University of Southern California (LAC+USC) Restorative Care Village, a breakthrough space that offers a comprehensive strategy for managing the whole-person and full continuum of interrelated challenges facing those with serious medical, mental health and addiction issues who may be homeless as a result.
