Building Design + Construction has published, “Big Data: How One City Took Control of its Facility Assets with Data,” an article authored by CannonDesign Facility Optimization Solutions’(FOS) Joe Cassata. The article offers universal ideas civic leaders can consider and implement to best manage their facility portfolios.
The article looks specifically at FOS’ work to help the City of Buffalo create a 21st Century Facility Management program. FOS and the City of Buffalo worked collaboratively to assess the city’s assets, automate systems, plan and implement key initiatives to increase efficiencies and conserve resources.
“That’s what the city of Buffalo now has – a basis for decision making. The data derived from these assessments inform us about the condition of each facility and the related costs,” said Steve Stepniak, city of Buffalo Commissioner of Public Works. “Now, we can make the decision that best achieves current and long-term objectives.”
