Two projects out of CannonDesign’s Chicago office recently won Merit Awards from the Chicago Building Congress: Richard J. Daley College was the winner for New Construction $15 to $55 Million, and Luther Burbank Elementary School earned the CBC/COAA Owners’ Choice Award. The Merit Awards have celebrated the building industry since 1956 by singling out the outstanding projects in greater Chicagoland built during the past three years.
The Manufacturing Technology & Engineering Center at Richard J. Daley College is a 57,000 sf addition with a connecting bridge to the existing facility. It will help develop the school as a center of excellence for engineering and advanced manufacturing. The new 84,000 sf K-6 Luther Burbank Elementary School reflects the legacy of Luther Burbank – a horticultural pioneer and inventor that developed more than 800 strains and varieties of plants over a 55-year career – in every element of the facility. It infuses Burbank’s inquisitive spirit and desire to create positive change both within and outside of its walls, and inspires students from generation to generation.
