The Chicago Tribune’s Blue Sky Innovation team has published their Office Tour story on Zurich North America’s new North American HQ. Focused on highlighting innovation in and around the city of Chicago, Blue Sky regularly tours and publishes pieces on forward-thinking, employee-focused workplaces in and around the city. Previously, they have published office tours on our Chicago office, DCI Artform and CA Ventures.
At 783,000 sf and home to 3,000 employees, Zurich’s new HQ is the result of a remarkably extensive workplace testing and engagement effort that crowdsourced ideas from Zurich employees years before the opening. As part of the workplace testing program, more than 150 employees spent 12 weeks working in four different possible work environments. They were able to test furniture, technology, organization and layout and weigh in on all of it via surveys, town-hall meetings and group feedback. This led to the inclusion of sit/stand desks for all employees, private enclaves, a fitness area, new cafeteria, walking trails and more.
The Blue Sky piece highlights several of the features and ideas that make Zurich’s new workplace a success for its employees.
