We are thrilled to share that the Centre Hospitalier de L’Université de Montréal (CHUM) took home five design awards at this week’s Grands Prix du Design in Montreal – including being named the Project of the Year.
The Grands Prix du Design is the premier design awards program in Quebec, showcasing the talent of local designers and architects. In addition to taking home the top prize at this year’s event, the CHUM took home the top awards in the healthcare, public spaces, universal accessibility and Hors-catégorie categories. As the big winner of the night, the project is also featured on the cover of INTÉRIEURS magazine.
Designed by CannonDesign + NEUF architect(e)s, the CHUM is one of the most ambitious urban integration projects in the world and the largest single-site healthcare project in North America — breathing new life into a once neglected part of Montreal and solidifying the city’s standing as a health and science hub of excellence. Phase 1 of the project, which accounts for 85% of the overall project, opened in November, 2017. It has gone onto receive some of the world’s top design awards, including those from Interior Design, IIDEXCanada, AZURE and INSIDE World Festival of Interiors, and has been published in more than 100 media outlets across the globe.
