The Cripple Creek City Council approved a special permit for the building of a new six-story hotel and parking garage at Bronco Billy’s Casino in Cripple Creek, CO. The Council voted 4-0 to move forward with the renovation, which will add 199 hotel rooms, a 112,350 sf parking garage and updates to 12,600 sf of gaming areas.

The design reflects both the town’s history and next era of prosperity, moving from a Gold Rush boom town, to ghost town, to gaming resort destination. Design elements strategically blend historical structure with natural features of the valley, including a lower brick plinth with “remixed” Victorian facades intersecting a gold-bronze and glass hotel tower. The tower reflects the sun, sky and surrounding mountain vistas. The proposed project intends to turn the town of Cripple Creek from a day-trip stop to a weekend destination.

The project is currently in design development, and demolition has already begun on site. The council approval allows the project to move full steam ahead. More background on the project and vote can be found here for reference.
