Los Angeles International Airport’s new Midfield Satellite Concourse (MSC) is the focus of a recently published Engineering News-Record story that highlights the project’s unique design and construction with Progressive Design Build Delivery. This is the first major PDB delivery project undertaken by the LAWA’s leadership. The concourse is located above a major sewer line servicing L.A. neighborhoods and required innovative solutions in order to secure the necessary clearances and approvals. The full story is available on ENR’s website.
The MSC is set to become the next major passenger terminal for the famed LAX airport. It will be a remote facility initially serviced by an airport bussing operation and a new passenger access tunnel to the airport’s Bradley West Terminal The project scope also includes the Gateway Building, a 50,000 sf renovation/addition to the Bradley West Terminal with connections at the concourse, apron and basement levels.
Our gkkworks/CannonDesign group is part of the Integrated Design-Build team for the project. The progressive approach co-locates architects and technical staff with our construction team including superintendents, project engineers and QA/QC inspectors to form a cohesive design-build entity.
