Healthcare design expert Laurie McCoy has joined CannonDesign as a principal and the leader of our Los Angeles office. Widely respected for her ability to help organizations accelerate innovation, Laurie will focus on the growth and development of our Southern California practice — forging successful client relationships, mentoring staff, and creating new partnerships across the health, education, corporate/commercial and science industries.
Laurie joins CannonDesign with 33 years’ experience practicing design in Southern California, most recently with NBBJ where she led the firm’s Los Angeles health market. Throughout her career, she has led the design and construction of future-focused facilities for clients such as Loma Linda University Medical Center, UCLA Health, Kaiser Permanente and Dignity Health.
“Laurie brings a level of energy and excitement that matches the dynamism Southern California is known for,” said Robin Cibrano, executive director at CannonDesign. “She has a rare understanding of the challenges and opportunities that exist in the marketplace and a track record helping clients imagine and realize new futures. Most importantly, she genuinely cares about people, and is going to be an excellent mentor to our employees in Los Angeles.”
In addition to leading our Los Angeles office, Laurie will be responsible for leading healthcare projects throughout the region. Her understanding of the future landscape of health delivery coupled with her experience working on nearly every healthcare building type makes her an integral addition to CannonDesign’s robust health practice.
“What really caught my attention about CannonDesign is the firm’s ability to not only talk about innovation, but make it very real, especially in healthcare,” said Laurie. “The firm’s design methodology is focused on continually discovering, developing and testing ideas and solutions that catapult clients forward. I’m looking forward to harnessing the firm’s innovative design process to help organizations imagine and execute bold new futures.”
Laurie is a board member of Loma Linda University’s Children’s Hospital Foundation and the past chair of the board of directors for the Children’s Fund.
