After serving as the Education Practice Leader for our Pittsburgh office for just under a year, Mike Corb has been named our new Office Practice Leader in Pittsburgh. In this role, Mike will continue leading CannonDesign’s local education practice, while also focusing on the overall growth and development of the Pittsburgh office. This includes fostering new community relationships, mentoring employees, championing client engagement, and creating new partnerships across the health, education, civic and science industries.
With more than 18 years’ experience practicing design in the Pittsburgh region, Mike is uniquely qualified to grow our practice throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania. “But more important than his experience and success is his ability to engage people in a meaningful, authentic way,” notes Robin Cibrano, executive director of office strategies at CannonDesign. “He’s the type of leader that naturally inspires people and gets them excited about the power and potential of design. That leadership trait, coupled with his understanding of the business of our profession, makes him the right person take our Pittsburgh office to new heights.”
Mike joined CannonDesign last March after practicing architecture in the Pittsburgh region for more than 18 years. His project experience spans the spectrum of the education market, and since joining the firm, he’s helped secure a number of project wins — including the modernization of two key buildings at Westmoreland County Community College. His passion for education is almost as strong as his passion for Pittsburgh — a place he’s proud to have watched evolve into one of the Northeast’s most celebrated cities.
“With institutions like Carnegie Mellon, the University of Pittsburgh, and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) triggering an economic metamorphosis and attracting tech companies like Google and UBER, Pittsburgh has evolved into a true 21st-century economy,” said Michael. “Needless to say, it’s an exciting time to be involved in design and construction as our city continues its upward journey.”
With a local history spanning more than 45 years, CannonDesign has been a key player in Pittsburgh’s ongoing development. Notable projects include Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, PNC Park, Allegheny Health Network’s Health + Wellness Pavilion, North Catholic High School, and Carnegie Mellon University’s new Cohon University Center Addition. In addition to providing full design and engineering services, our construction services arm is based in Pittsburgh.
