The Rush Oak Brook Outpatient Center is an exciting joint-venture between Rush University Medical Center, a leading academic medical center in the Chicago metropolitan market, and Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, a private academic physician group that is currently ranked 4th in the county by U.S. News & World Report, to bring advanced care closer to Chicago’s western suburbs. The center fully opened and began welcoming patients in the first months of 2019.
The dynamic three-story, 100,000-sf facility is designed to unite nearly 20 different disciplines and features a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center; 65 exam rooms; physical and occupational therapy; full imaging services; sports performance center; and attached parking structure. The project is anticipated to achieve LEED Silver certification and leverages a Universal Grid design strategy to maximize adaptability and long-term value.
“The opening of the outpatient center is an exciting time for Rush University Medical Center and Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush,” said Daniel Perschbacher, AIA, CannonDesign’s manager for the project. “These clients had a unified and inspiring vision for the project from day one. They have been bold in their efforts to create a space that unites multi-disciplinary team members in important new ways, and drives real-life value for the people and communities it serves. The new center achieves their vision and our team is proud to have helped bring it to life.”
The project is conceived as a hub for those it services, offering everything from adult primary care services to orthopedic care and nearly 20 other specialties. Orthopaedic doctors from six subspecialties can provide world-class care for sports injuries, joint pain, spine and back issues and more. There is even an interactive home-health tech area, a space where individuals can learn how to improve and track their health via consumer technologies like smart scales, blood pressure cuffs, and smartwatches.
