The Buffalo office celebrated the most recent addition of a long line of Buffalo/ Western New York AIA Young Architect Award recipients. Stephanie Vito, AIA, accepted the Young Architect Award at the annual AIA award ceremony held at Asbury Hall. Stephanie was recognized for her exceptional leadership in design, education, service to the profession, and community involvement.
Her outstanding dedication to the advancement and betterment of behavioral health environments set her apart – using design excellence as a tool for lifting the lives of those in need of specialized care. As a leader among her colleagues, Stephanie is a co-founder of the “Emerge” group which is an organization of professionals dedicated to knowledge sharing and mentoring in the office. She has been published frequently in design journals, has won numerous design awards, and has consistently given back through teaching and community involvement.
Her colleague who wrote her nomination stated, “Stephanie’s goals begin at the human level — seeking to eliminate stigmas that surround behavioral health by pushing society’s preconceptions through design. Her professionalism and positive attitude are the key tools that allow her to continually rise above the intricate challenges of healthcare design to deliver comfortable and safe environments.”
Stephanie joins the ranks of three other Buffalo CannonDesign team members who have won this prestigious award throughout the years. They include Peter McCarthy (2014), James Lai (2010), and Mike Agate (2002) who are pictured with Stephanie here.
