Hernandez, Corbin speak on emergency medicine at internationally-recognized academic medical center
Health Practice Leader and Principal Manuel Hernandez, MD, MBA and Chicago Health Practice Leader Catherine Corbin, AIA, MBA, were recently invited to deliver a grand rounds on emergency medicine for physicians and nurses at Hamad General Hospital in Doha, Qatar. The presentation shared best practices and lessons learned through our engagement with Hamad to optimize operations in their own emergency department and trauma center – one of the busiest in the world, with an average of one patient arrival every minute and an extremely diverse patient population.
Our Health Advisory Services team, including Hernandez and Corbin, partnered with Hamad to conduct current state assessments, process and value stream mapping, utilization and key room forecasting, and visioning exercises to identify current challenges and define what the future of emergency and trauma care could look like in Doha. By gaining a comprehensive understanding of where they had been and where they are going, Hamad has been able to identify operational efficiencies and innovations that are helping them design and construct new facilities that position them well for an unprecedented future.
