The Virginia Tech Men’s Baseball team will hold official grand opening festivities for its new English Field at Union Park this Saturday when they host the Louisville Cardinals. Our team is thrilled to have designed this dynamic new ballpark in design-build partnership with Whiting-Turner.

Grand opening festivities will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, several honorary first pitches, a fireworks display after the game, and other celebratory moments to take place to highlight Virginia Tech’s inaugural season in its newly constructed stadium. Full details for the weekend can be found online.

Virginia Tech baseball has a storied past, rich with NCAA history, MLB-draft prospects and incredible moments and memories. English Field at Union Park is an exciting new ballpark that celebrates Virginia Tech baseball and serves as a home for its future. Everything from the stadium’s Hokie stone to embossed university symbols celebrate Virginia Tech and its legacy of baseball success.

Located at the entrance to the athletics precinct at the campus entrance, English Field at Union Park is a prominent destination for athletes, students,  alumni, fans and community fans Designed as a “stadium in the park,” the 1,252-seat stadium creates remarkable experiences for athletes and allows fans to experience the game their way – relaxing in the sun, cheering close to the field, or casually socializing with friends. The venue’s signature grass terraces will be complimented with a three-tier hospitality deck, 4 private suites and a picnic area close to the field. Beyond baseball, the stadium can host concerts, and community or campus events.

In addition to the new construction, our team renovated 4,000 sf of space in the existing Weaver Baseball Center for a new team clubhouse including a locker room, team room for video review, laundry facilities and coaches room.

A signature stadium, English Field at Union Park will be a key venue for Virginia Tech’s athletics program long into the future.
