The Waukee Innovation & Learning Center (WILC) received an Honorable Mention in the LEARNING BY DESIGN Education Design Awards. The awards showcase the nation’s best education design and construction projects, from PK-12 to college and university facilities. The judges panel was of made-up of architects, education academia and facility professionals.
WILC provides a comprehensive educational experience for the Aspiring Professional Experience program at Waukee High School. The facility offers a wide range of spaces, supporting individual learning experiences to more collaborative work environments. WILC is the result of a multi-phased design process consisting of interviews with key stakeholders, observing students, and speaking with local businesses for potential partnerships. The facility connects students, faculty, business partners and community through a shared destination, while preparing the next generation for 21st century professional opportunities.
