Creating Prototypes and Best Practice Standards for Ambulatory Clinics

Offering prototypes and standards for ambulatory facilities can save time and budget and provide an elevated, consistent care experience.

This is a brief case study and companion piece to our inpatient hospital prototype article on using standards, universal grid and more in ambulatory facilities. Our Boston-based healthcare team came up with best practice standards for Brigham Health, a founding member of Partners Health System (Mass General Brigham) based on a universal planning grid, which allows accommodation of various clinical modules. While the programming may be different at each site, each one contains components such as exam rooms, phlebotomy, lab, imaging and urgent care clinics that can be replicated.
