Abbie Clary Recognized by 2019 Women in Design Program

We are proud to announce that Abbie Clary, AIA, ACHA, LEED AP, director of our health practice, was named one of 10 honorees in the second annual Women in Design program.

Abbie was recognized for her innovative design strategies, inspiring leadership and push for equality in the industry. She and the other honorees were featured in a special release of the Women in Design publication.

Since joining CannonDesign in 2018, Abbie has not only been a leader in helping healthcare organizations rethink their spaces, but also in encouraging and pursuing diversity in all aspects of design. According to Healthcare Design and its sister publications, Abbie’s “mission to radically change the current state of health is inspiring, and [she’s] played an undeniable role in helping organizations rethink strategies and the way patients are served.”

The projects Abbie has led have been recognized over the years with awards from Interior Design, Modern Healthcare, Contract, the International Interior Design Association, the American Institute of Architectures/Academy of Architecture for Health, and more. Abbie also speaks and writes about being a female leader in the design industry and how younger women designers can advocate for themselves and for their career. Additionally, she founded the Women’s Networking Dinners for working professional women within the healthcare industry.

“Architecture is at this crazy crossroads,” Abbie told Healthcare Design. “We’re being commoditized, but it’s also an opportunity to be smarter about design and experience.”

Women in Design is hosted by Healthcare Design, Hospitality Design, Contract, Environments for Aging and design:retail magazines. It sets out to acknowledge and honor some of the most influential women in various design industries.
