We’re excited to announce that Kyle Ritchie, sustainable design lead for CannonDesign’s Education Practice, has been named to GreenBiz’ annual 30 Under 30 list.

The annual list identifies dynamic individuals who are proving themselves as outstanding emerging leaders in sustainability. Kyle is specifically recognized for spearheading sustainability efforts across higher education campuses nationwide.

Kyle joined our firm back in April 2021, partnering with PK-12 and college and university clients to develop long-term solutions that drive economic, social, and environmental change. He is passionate about helping clients reduce their negative ecological impact, the circular economy, eliminating toxic materials in projects, conserving energy, water, and carbon, and all other sustainability efforts that move the needle.

In GreenBiz’s announcement, Kyle is described as a “sleeper agent” for sustainability, “helping clients to think beyond green building checklists to understand the financial benefits across the lifecycle of a building or campus.”

Kyle told GreenBiz, “Once we explain that there’s a real monetary value to utilizing the circular economy in our project, it’s not talking about sustainability; it’s talking about outcomes,” he says.

Also in the GreenBiz profile, Kyle highlights some of CannonDesign’s projects that he has enjoyed working on like John Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Lab and the University of Chicago’s new cancer center.

Aside from his work at CannonDesign, Kyle is passionate about spreading the word about the benefits of sustainability—through his side project podcast called “Don’t Call it Sustainable."
