Design that Encourages Transparency, Collaboration and Connection

St. John’s University, Peter J. Tobin College of Business, Queens, NY

The 65,000 sf renovation of St. John’s University Peter J. Tobin College of Business was guided by three important themes: transparency, collaboration and connection. The result of a complete renovation of Bent Hall, the facility now brings all of the College of Business’ components under one roof.

A new arrangement of classrooms and offices, paired with an abundance of collaboration spaces throughout the facility, help foster stronger student-to-student, student-to-faculty and faculty-to-faculty connections. Many of the spaces incorporate glass fronts, allowing students to engage with each other while taking advantage of natural light and views of the surrounding campus. A high-tech financial lab complete with Bloomberg terminals and a start-up incubator lab provide students with the best academic resources available. The Peter J. Tobin College of Business is one of several projects CannonDesign is working on with the University.
