A Specialized Research Environment for Advanced Microscopy
This state-of-the-art facility will house next-generation Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopes and will provide scientists with unparalleled capabilities and long-term flexibility in advanced microscopy. Planned to support four Nion Ultra STEM 100 instruments, a 48” thick mat slab directly connected to bedrock will provide a minimum VC-H vibration performance. Each instrument room will be enclosed with walls consisting of concrete, acoustically insulated stud partitions, continuous welded aluminum plate, sound absorption panel, and an active electromagnetic cancellation grid. The HVAC system and wall-mounted radiant panels provide temperature variance control to within .01C/hour.
