A Holistic Approach to Reimagining the Library
One of the most prominent buildings on Wilfrid Laurier University’s Waterloo campus is Laurier Library, which receives more than half a million visits each year and houses more than a million printed books and archival items, with 800 group and individual study spaces.
The comprehensive renewal plan holistically reimagines the library and archival spaces while addressing the need for expansion and entrance relocation. A library design that engages students’ digital and collaborative learning will meet the university’s goal of a more cohesive experience, responding to evolving demands of content delivery models. A phased approach that aligns with funding streams addresses physical restacking and pathways to academic and technology support services.
