As the business practice leader for our Buffalo office, Gustavo (Gus) Lima is responsible for ensuring we have the business practices in place to achieve short- and long-term business goals. He’s also a principal within Cannon Construction Services and one of our firm’s most experienced project directors. As a project leader, his greatest strengths are consensus building, risk management, and managing large-scale projects and multi-party teams. Currently, he is the project director for the Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal – the largest healthcare construction project in North America and one of the largest public-private partnerships in the world. Passionate about practicing at the intersection of design and construction, Gus is a frequent lecturer at universities and professional organizations and has been published in local and international publications.

I’m passionate about most things that interest me; I’m South American, after all! But architecture got my juices going when I was in elementary school and it never let up. Architecture is one of the few professions that has an enormous impact on society since almost every human activity is conducted in a space designed by an architect. I’m also passionate about the social responsibility of architects and the wide-ranging nature of the profession, which accommodates everything from the most esoteric design pursuits to the most challenging construction and management roles. It’s all in a day’s work. How can you not be passionate?
