J. Alberto Nicolau, AIA, LEED AP
Vice-President, Senior Project Manager
A critical measure of a successful healthcare design is an environment that helps ease patients’ anxiety, allows physicians to perform at their best, enables caregivers effective access to patients and provides welcoming spaces to patient’s families.
From a very young age, Alberto loved building things. He was fascinated by the role that “master builders” played in history and how they married art and architecture with engineering and construction. Now with more than 30 years of experience, Alberto embraces his role and the diversity of his responsibilities – from overseeing design to collaborating with clients to discussing the technical aspects of a project. His design sensitivity, technical expertise and business acumen allow him to fluidly move from one task to another.
Alberto has led projects for healthcare clients such as Sharp Healthcare, Kaiser Permanente, the Department of Veteran Affairs, University of California healthcare facilities and Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center. Alberto finds fulfillment in helping clients realize their vision and in doing work that makes a difference in the lives of others. He is inspired by nature and how beauty and structure reveal themselves in different ways. A licensed architect, Alberto is a member of the AIA and AIA Academy of Architecture for Healthcare.
