Marion Lawson, AIA, LEED AP
I am driven by my strong belief that a sustainable approach to design is simply the right thing to do. My commitment to sustainability is not just my day job; it is the way I choose to live. I take pride in knowing the work I accomplish with our teams and clients, and the behaviors I adopt in my personal life will lead to a healthier, more beautiful future.
With degrees in both architecture and civil engineering, Marion Lawson works with clients and design and construction teams to set performance goals and integrate sustainability throughout the entire project process. She is the primary researcher behind CannonDesign’s investigation into the embodied energy of building products and the analysis of projects’ carbon footprint. Her findings were published in Construction Canada and presented at multiple local and international conferences. Marion’s research on materials has led her to collaborate with Architecture 2030 on the development of the forthcoming Environmental Product Declaration Quicksheet, which will help designers and clients compare and select products based on environmental impacts. Marion is the chair of Environmental Awareness Week, CannonDesign’s annual sustainability-focused celebration that helps guide our firm toward becoming a regenerative practice.
