Back to Our People

Melissa Gorman, AIA

What I value most about my work now is collaboration. What we can do together with our shared talents and expertise is far more than any of us can do alone. I’m currently in construction administration on the UCSD JMC, the most holistically collaborative construction process in which I’ve worked. Every day in CA can be an opportunity for conflict or for collaborative problem solving. I’ve been really fortunate to work with a team of architects and contractors who relish the chance to work through challenges and learn from each other. I also really enjoy working on BIM process improvements, which to me is really about how we work as teams and leverage our individual efforts.

A leader in CannonDesign’s digital practice, Melissa Gorman has spent more than 17 years in the educational, institutional and healthcare sectors in planning, design and construction. She is a technical architect with a passion to improve BIM Level of Development protocols and Revit standards to improve performance outcomes for her clients. She recently spoke with a team at the BIMForum Conference about BIM challenges and successes on the UCSD Jacobs Medical Center. Melissa is also a member of CannonDesign’s NEXT Council where she partners with leadership to evolve our practice.
