Incredibly successful outcomes can be realized when we challenge conventional methods and unite design and construction in collaborative ways. Helping clients do this has been my lifelong professional passion. From harnessing modular design to pioneering revolutionary delivery methods, my focus is exploring and implementing the most powerful methods for project excellence.

Recognized as one of the leading voices in advancing project delivery, Praful [prūh-full] Kulkarni has dedicated his career to sparking change in the AEC industry. As a young architect, he recognized the fragmented nature of traditional design and construction and the inefficiencies that came with it. He founded his own integrated planning, design, and construction firm in response — gkkworks — a true ‘one-stop-shop’ focused on uniting design excellence and construction innovation. The firm grew from its humble roots into a practice with five offices and more than 300 people. In 2018, gkkworks merged with CannonDesign, strengthening one of the most progressive integrated design firms in the world.

Praful is a champion for single-source collaborative design and delivery methods that enhance value to clients and help ensure certainty in project cost, schedule and quality outcomes. He has a pulse on the latest innovations within the industry, and specifically, is a tireless advocate for the modularization and prefabrication of building components — a strategy that delivers tremendous speed-to-market and cost benefits. Viewing knowledge sharing as a critical part of pushing the industry forward, Praful contributes his expertise to several professional organizations. He’s currently a member of the Board of Directors for the 16,000-member Construction Management Association of America. Other leadership positions include being the 2017 national chair of the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), the 2008 president of the DBIA Western Pacific Region and serving on the boards of the LA Economic Development Corporation, California Community College Facility Coalition and Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business.

As an Indian immigrant, Praful advocates for diversity in all its embodiments. He’s a co-leader of CannonDesign’s Prism employee resource group — a group focused on amplifying the voices of employees of color — and is an executive committee board member and lifetime trustee of the Indian Institute of Technology Foundation.
